Tepperman’s Celebrates New Store with Charitable Giveaway
Five charities in Ontario’s Niagara region have received a financial boost thanks to independent Canadian home furnishings retailer Tepperman’s.
In May, the long-standing family furniture chain launched a $25,000 giveaway to mark the opening of its newest store in St. Catharines.
For 10 weeks, the public was invited to vote online for their favourite charity from 10 pre-selected local organizations. The five with the most votes received $5,000 each. The winning charities are YMCA Niagara, Community Crew, Gillian’s Place, Niagara Children Centre and Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.
The other five organizations received a small token of appreciation.
“We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome we have received in St. Catharines, and we look forward to continuing to support and grow with this wonderful community,” said Tepperman’s president Andrew Tepperman at the grand opening celebration held over the August civic holiday weekend.
Tepperman, along with members of the retailer’s team and St. Catharines Mayor Mat Sisco, recognized the winning charities during a giant cheque ceremony at the event.
The celebrations also included a free community barbecue, where customers enjoyed hot dogs and drinks before exploring the new store that offered week-long deals.
Located at the SmartCentres plaza just off Highway 406 at Fourth Avenue and Louth Street, the new store offers an extensive selection of home furnishings, appliances, mattresses and electronics, along with free home decor services. It features inspirational lifestyle vignettes, a designated play zone for kids, a café offering customers free coffee and popcorn, selfie stations and a natural indoor garden.
The 44,000-square-foot showroom officially opened May 3, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It’s the retailer’s seventh store in southern Ontario. Others can be found in Windsor, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ancaster, Sarnia and Chatham.
Tepperman’s will celebrate its centennial anniversary next year.
