Tepperman’s Expands its Footprint in Ontario

Independent home furnishings retailer Tepperman’s is opening its first new location in nearly five years.

The latest store for the Canadian family-owned company is in St. Catharines, Ont., near Niagara Falls. Located at the SmartCentres plaza just off Highway 406 at Fourth Avenue and Louth Street, it will be the retailer’s seventh showroom in Southwestern Ontario when it opens May 3.

Other stores can be found in London, Kitchener, Ancaster, Sarnia, Chatham and Windsor, where the retailer is headquartered.

“This expansion was driven by the city’s vibrant community, economic growth and shared values of sustainability and family,” says Andrew Tepperman, third-generation president and grandson of company late founder Nate Tepperman. “Not only is it the right location for business; it’s about embedding ourselves within the fabric of the community and contributing to its growth and vibrancy.”

The newest Tepperman’s will have a 44,000-square-foot showroom with complete lifestyle vignettes, bright LED and natural lighting, defined aisle ways for easy navigation, a designated kid’s area, and a café offering customers free coffee and popcorn.

It will also contain an Outlet at Tepperman’s, as is the case with all stores.

Additionally, the store will feature a natural 60-square-foot indoor garden, equipped with a variety of air-purifying tropical plants and lit with grow lights. The installation of 94 solar panels will offset a portion of the store’s total energy consumption. Electric vehicle charging stations will be available, too.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held in celebration of the grand opening, followed by a day filled with refreshments. In line with the company’s long-standing tradition of supporting the communities where it operates, Tepperman’s will make a significant charitable donation totalling $25,000. Five local charities, selected by the public through a voting process, will each be awarded $5,000.

Tepperman’s is among this country’s largest home furnishings stores, carrying furniture, appliances, bedding and electronics. The retailer will celebrate its centennial anniversary next year.
