Young Albertan Entrepreneur Enters Sofa-in-a-Box Industry
A Calgary teen has launched a new direct-to-consumer online-only furniture brand that features a modular and tool-free sofa dubbed Everyone Dream.
The design is meant to reduce the headaches of moving sofas or difficult assembly time.
“The furniture industry has ignored true comfort, value pricing as well as assembly frustrations for decades,” says Jake Bzeta, founder of Everyone Furniture. “Our goal is to capture a significant share of the growing online furniture market, which saw a 43 per cent increase in the past two years.”
The start-up secured more than 150 pre-orders for the sofa collection prior to its official debut in December 2024. The company claims it clicks and connects in under 30 minutes.
The sofa starts at $1,500 and is targeted at millennial and Gen Z consumers who are looking for a combination of design and accessible pricing. Sixty-seven per cent of this market prefers easy-to-assemble furniture solutions, according to recent studies.
Bzeta’s foray into the furniture industry started in his garage. At the age of 16, he began buying and selling used furniture. He quickly recognized the common frustrations of moving and assembling bulky, awkward furniture, so he set out to create a solution that anyone could manage. The result: Everyone Furniture.
Now just 19 years old, Bzeta’s goals are lofty.
“Our mission extends beyond selling sofas,” he says. “Our designs will soon extend to bedroom and dining room collections.”
