Urban Barn’s Upcoming Store Opening Marks Major Milestone
Vancouver-based furniture and home decor retailer Urban Barn continues expansion plans with the launch of its 55th store this spring.
Located in Halifax, the new showroom will officially make the company a Canada-wide brand.
It will also facilitate greater e-commerce capabilities, as Urban Barn will have a regional presence to support logistics and delivery for larger furniture pieces.
Last fall, the home decor specialty retailer opened a new store in British Columbia’s second-largest shopping centre, Park Royal in West Vancouver. Specifically, it can be found in ‘Park Royal South’ at 723 Main St. at Taylor Way.
With more than 4,000 square feet of retail space, it features expansive windows to let in natural light, hardwood-like flooring, custom cash desks, dynamic lighting and branded cabinetry.
While new, the store opening was a relocation — Urban Barn has served customers in Park Royal for more than a decade.
The company’s director of marketing Ainslie Fincham told Retail Insider the move reflects the retailer’s commitment to brand elevation, with a store design that captures both modern aesthetics and functional appeal.
Urban Barn celebrates 35 years in business in 2025. Childhood friends Rick Bohonis and Craig Stewart opened their first location in 1990. Featuring rustic wooden floors and a barn-style door, the premiere showroom inspired the company’s name.
