The Dufresne Group Bolsters Leadership Team

The Dufresne Group (TDG) has welcomed two into its senior management fold.

Mike Pratt is the company’s new chief operating officer, in addition to serving as president of Dufresne Furniture and Appliances. As COO, he oversees the company’s operations and ensures strategic goals are met.

Mike Pratt

Pratt joined TDG from financial and global information services company GLG. Previous to that, he served as CEO of the Guitar Centre. From 2013-2014, he led the musical instrument retailer chain through a turnaround and expansion in the United States that resulted in a successful roadshow and sale. More recently, he was CEO of community hearing aid provider Connect Hearing, taking the reins when the company was in distress. Here, he achieved a significant advancement in profitability while improving top-line sales through strong organic growth initiatives and a series of successful acquisitions.

Pratt’s background also includes more than a decade at Best Buy Canada/Future Shop, where he worked his way up the ranks to become president and CEO in 2008, a position he held for five years. During this tenure, Pratt achieved record results for the Canadian business. Along the way, he met and mentored another recent addition to TDG, Jim Mather.

Jim Mather

Mather is the new vice-president of sales for Ashley Canada. He worked for Future Shop/Best Buy Canada for 17 years, starting as a floor manager and working his way to director of store operations. His most recent role was vice-president of sales and operations with Coast Appliances, where he successfully led the company’s expansion.

TDG is the largest Ashley licensee in Canada, operating approximately half of the stores in this country. The company is also owner of Dufresne Retail Solutions Group.
