Ontario Retailer Ranks High on Wood Furniture Scorecard

Stoney Creek Furniture is among the top 10 companies on the 2025 Wood Furniture Scorecard, an initiative of two U.S.-based environmental organizations, the National Wildlife Federation and Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC).

The Ontario-based independent retailer earned an impressive score of 31.

“Our company invests considerable time and energy in sourcing quality products that are responsibly manufactured — furniture that will stand the test of time and reduce the burden on our landfills,” says Lori Negrinotti, merchandise manager at Stoney Creek Furniture. “This commitment not only matters to us but also to our customers, who are increasingly looking for domestically and sustainably-made home furnishings.”

Awarded annually since 2018, the Wood Furniture Scorecard encourages furniture retailers to drive responsible wood sourcing practices throughout their supply chains. To earn a top score, companies must earn 30 or more points across three categories: responsible wood sourcing policy; responsible sourcing practices; and additional actions. This demonstrates sustainability is not a one-time achievement but a long-term commitment.

“Receiving a top score demonstrates to our customers and to furniture manufacturers that our priorities are aligned with those who share the same values,” says Negrinotti. “As part of our ongoing commitment, we proudly partner with sustainable, responsible furniture makers, including some amazing new local vendor partners right here in Ontario.”

Stoney Creek Furniture is an active member of SFC, a coalition of retailers and manufacturers dedicated to practicing more environmentally-responsible ways to source and produce furniture. Accountability through programs like the Wood Furniture Scorecard is vitally important because of the significant role that deforestation plays in climate change.

The only other retailer ranked as a ‘top scorer’ with stores in Canada on this year’s scorecard was Ikea.
