Mega Group Names Two to 2024 Hall of Fame

Mega Group will recognize new hall of fame inductees Wayne Hambly and Benoit Simard at its upcoming national convention.

“We are thrilled to honour Wayne and Benoit for their exceptional contributions and unwavering dedication to Mega Group,” says CEO Chris West. “Their impact on our community and industry is truly something to celebrate.”

Wayne Hambly

Hambly is the former owner of Hambly’s BrandSource Home Furnishings in Charlottetown. He served as Mega’s board chair for more than a decade at a time when the co-operatively owned buying and marketing group for furniture, mattress and major appliance retailers experienced many challenges, changes and achievements.

Former long-time Mega CEO Simard will also be inducted in the builders category. His contribution to the group started as a store owner in Rivière-du-Loup, Que., and evolved progressively with Simard joining the Mega team in various capacities, all the way up to the helm — a position he held for 15 years. Given this, Simard’s contribution to Mega has left an indelible mark on the organization’s history.

Benoit Simard

Launched in 2022, the hall of fame honours influential and significant contributors to the success of Mega and its members. Inductees are chosen from Mega members, staff or suppliers, and all have clearly demonstrated the qualities of perseverance and drive necessary to create success in an ever-evolving retail world.

The inductee ceremony will take place during Mega’s national convention June 14-15, at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver.

Held annually, the event brings together industry professionals, leading experts and the group’s vast network of independent retailers throughout Canada. It offers a distinctive mix of buying, selling and learning that extends beyond traditional seminars and workshops.
