EQ3 to Close Remaining Stores in United States
Canadian home furnishings brand EQ3 will soon no longer have a physical presence stateside.
The contemporary furniture retailer has announced it is closing its New York City and Norwalk, Conn., retail locations at the end of the year.
“These decisions are never easy,” says EQ3 vice-president of retail Anna Payne. “Our beautiful spaces in Manhattan and Norwalk were built with enthusiasm for the future, and the timing of their openings just before the onset of the pandemic brought challenges no one could have anticipated.”
The company says that even though foot traffic struggled to rebound post-pandemic, it has experienced strong performance through its digital and trade channels.
“The U.S. remains a key market opportunity for EQ3,” says Payne. “Our focus now shifts to meeting our American customers outside of traditional retail outlets.”
These closures will complete EQ3’s transition to an alternative U.S. presence. The company will continue to engage with American customers through its e-commerce website and remote trade services for designers and architects. EQ3 products will also still be available through select retail partners.
The company will maintain its 13 brick-and-mortar stores in Canada, including two retail outlets.
Part of Palliser Furniture Group, EQ3 is a vertically integrated designer, manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings based in Winnipeg.
