B.C. Furniture Maker Receives Government Funding
The British Columbia government is allocating part of $6.75 million to regional manufacturers to boost domestic production and strengthen supply chains.
Mako Wood Furniture will receive up to $5.5 million to construct a new manufacturing facility in Merritt, while maintaining existing operations in Surrey, creating 29 jobs.
“As a business proudly serving for 22 years, and currently employing 100 dedicated workers, this initiative is pivotal for enhancing community well-being and driving economic growth,” says Harjit Jassal, CEO of Mako Wood. “It represents a significant step toward creating a more resilient future, delivering tangible benefits and positive change for residents across British Columbia.”
The funding is delivered through the B.C. Manufacturing Jobs Fund, which supports capital investments to help companies modernize operations, adopt new technologies and expand value-added production.
