Vancouver-based Sundays Grows Retail Operations in U.S.
Canadian furniture brand Sundays has opened a new showroom stateside, its largest in the U.S.
The 4,000-square-foot New York City flagship store is located at 7 West 18th Street in the hub of Manhattan’s furniture district.
The sizeable space was chosen as it provides room to create vignettes and allow shoppers to experience how they can live with Sundays furniture in their home.
The brand sells sofas, sectionals and other seating, beds, tables, outdoor furniture, storage solutions like media units, dressers and sideboards. Pieces are modern and functional, warm and laidback.
Sundays furniture is displayed over two floors and interspersed with local art, accessories, lighting and more, with a goal of celebrating the creative talent in New York.
The heritage building showroom features pops colour found in the staircase, bar and bathroom, among other areas, that leans into the brand’s playful, welcoming aesthetic.
While this is Sundays’ first permanent showroom in NYC, the brand previously held pop-ups in the city, which provided research and testing opportunities to gauge market appetite. All proved successful and when combined with more online sales coming from the region and growing demand for an in-person store, moving forward with an affixed address made strategic sense, says a company spokesperson.
The recent opening of its New York outpost in the Flatiron district, launched May 2, reflects Sundays’ strong momentum in the U.S., and creates a bicoastal presence. Other storefronts can be found in Los Angeles and Seattle.
Canadian city showrooms are in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, where the company is based.
Sundays was founded as an e-commerce initiative in 2019, by siblings Moe Jr. and Sara Samieian (also co-CEOs of Moe’s Home Collection), Moe Jr.’s wife Barbora and Noah Morse, who serves as head of product.
