Manitoba Furniture Store Draws Ire for Non-delivery
A Winnipeg furniture retailer has come under fire for alleged fraud.
CBC reports local police has received an online report accusing Rove Furniture and Appliances of not delivering paid orders and failing to provide refunds.
The complaints are from members of the city’s Nigerian community.
Vera Keyede, president of the Nigerian Association of Manitoba, told CBC she plans to hire a lawyer to deal with the situation.
Keyede says the association has been approached by five people. Combined, they are out-of-pocket approximately $15,000.
According to CBC, the furniture business’ owner, Nitish (Nick) Kesar, said the company has been facing a lot of issues related to theft and the supply chain, and that it is working toward catching up with deliveries and refunds in the next couple of months.
Rove has an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. The private consumer complaints organization has received 10 complaints about Rove in the past seven months, reports CBC.
Since CBC started working on this story, one of the complainants has received partial repayment for their order.
