The three-day event, held June 17-19, at the historic Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, S.C., will also feature an in-depth educational program. Topics covered include the digital and artificial intelligence transformation of transportation and logistics, with speaker Jake Hoffman, chief technology officer for Gnosis Freight, among other technology experts; the state of the U.S. economy and its impact on the home furnishings industry, presented by Piedmont Crescent Capital chief economist Mark Vitner; and an update on California’s ambitious emissions reductions goals by Peter Schneider, president of TGS Logistics, who will shed light on the regulations’ impact on the transportation industry.

The industry leader keynote will be given by Samson Marketing’s Kevin O’Connor who launched Legacy Classic Furniture in 1999, partnering with Samuel Kuo of Samson Holding on a new logistics model that enabled retailers to mix a variety of products and styles on a direct-container basis. The new approach enabled independent stores to affordably source smaller quantities of imported products. In 2006, O’Connor was appointed president and CEO of Samson Marketing, which includes Legacy Classic, Universal Furniture and Craftmaster Furniture. Prior to launching Legacy, he was president of Hyundai Furniture in the 1980s, and president of Master Design in the mid-1990s. O’Connor served as chair of the High Point Market Authority from 2006-2012, and was instrumental in reinvigorating High Point’s pre-market event.

The Logistics Conference is the industry’s only in-depth program for transportation and logistics executives. As such, it attracts all major shippers, carriers, brokers, forwarders, ports and consultants specializing in home furnishings transport, as well as transportation and logistics executives from leading residential furniture companies.

An early registration rate of $575 per person is available until May 3. From May 4-31, registration will be $650. AHFA member companies receive a significant discount. Registration includes lunch and a cocktail reception on June 18, as well as a tour of the Joint Base Charleston U.S. military facility. An optional Charleston RiverDogs baseball game outing is planned for that evening.

Based in High Point, N.C., AHFA represents more than 200 leading furniture manufacturers and distributors, and approximately 150 suppliers to the furniture industry worldwide. The supplier division includes 22 transportation and logistics companies that make up the specialized furniture carriers.
