Quebec’s BDM + Furniture Makes Another Acquisition
Canadian case goods manufacturer BDM + Furniture has purchased three more companies that are part of the MAP Group.
They include Meubles Arboit-Poitras, Meubles Tomali and Viebois.
The Quebec-based manufacturers are recognized for their expertise in the design and production of customizable wood furniture for the bedroom and dining room, as well as wall units.
BDM says the acquisition, valued at between $5 million and $10 million, strengthens its position as a significant player in the province’s manufacturing sector.
The company also noted that the three companies will retain their individual brand identities, positioning and product offerings, while their existing management teams remain in place.
However, BDM plans to relocate the group’s production facility in L’Épiphanie, Que., to its recently modernized facilities in Louiseville, Que.
BDM owner Philippe Darveau recently told Home News Now that the company also intends to incorporate product from the three brands that are suitable for the U.S. market into its portfolio of made-in-U.S. product lines.
These products would be assembled, finished and upholstered at the company’s Saloom factory in Winchendon, Mass., allowing them to avoid applicable tariffs on Canadian imports.
BDM plans to showcase some of these products at this fall’s High Point Market.
BDM purchased Saloom, a U.S. wood furniture manufacturer, in early 2025. More recently, the company acquired Huppé, a Quebec-based manufacturer and design brand specializing in modern and contemporary furniture, this past spring.
