LFL Buys Out Partner in Edmonton Distribution Centre

Canada’s largest home retailer is acquiring the remaining stake in its Edmonton distribution centre.

Leon’s Furniture Ltd. (LFL) Group will purchase the 50 per cent interest held by North 170 DC Ltd., a subsidiary of Qualico Properties, for $45.75 million, giving the company full ownership when the transaction closes on Oct. 1.

“This is a high-quality, well-located asset that is already core to how we operate in Western Canada,” says LFL president and CEO Mike Walsh. “Since opening, the facility has expanded our distribution capabilities in the region, driven enhancements in product availability and service levels, and given us the capacity to support future growth.”

The facility, which also houses The Brick‘s corporate headquarters, opened in early 2025. Combined, the distribution centre and headquarters occupy approximately 500,000 square feet.

LFL currently operates 301 stores across Canada under various banners: Leon’s, The Brick, Appliance Canada, The Brick Mattress Store and The Brick Outlet. It also operates six websites: leons.ca, thebrick.com, furniture.ca, midnorthern.com, transglobalservice.com and appliancecanada.com.
