Leon’s Furniture Reveals Changes at Helm of The Brick

The Brick‘s Dave Freeman is retiring at the end of 2023, after serving as president for seven years.

“During his tenure, Dave brought many positive aspects to the company and was a role model, mentor and coach,” says Mike Walsh, president and CEO of Leon’s Furniture Ltd. (LFL Group), parent company of The Brick. “We very much appreciate his leadership (and) we wish him well in his retirement as he will be able to travel and spend more time with his family.”

Freeman has had a storied career with the furniture retailer, which has spanned more than four decades. He joined the company in 1980, as a credit supervisor and worked in offices across Canada, including Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary, finally returning to Edmonton in 2007 as vice-president of sales.

She has held several operational roles during this time, from regional operations manager when she first joined in 1982, to senior director of distribution. She will step into the role of president upon Freeman’s retirement Dec. 31.

“Darci’s commitment, drive and experience will serve her well,” says Walsh.
