Preview: Home Accents Available at High Point Market

By Clare Tattersall

High Point Market is a go-to destination for home furnishings and this includes accessories, from bedding to throw pillows and artwork to area rugs. It has also become a major trade event for decorative lighting manufacturers to reach interior designers and retail buyers.

Here’s a selection of home accents that will be on full display and available to order at the market, which kicks off its usual five-day run on Oct. 26. All products are manufactured by and/or available to Canadian retailers.

Lighting
The lush allure of tropical foliage informs the Bilal flush mount ceiling light from Arteriors (Commerce & Design — 1A, 1B, 1G, Floor 1). From afar, the botanically inspired fixture resembles metal but is cleverly made of sustainable coconut shells in a rich eucalyptus hue inspired by succulent plants. It is suspended from an antique brass-plated iron canopy. Also lighting up Arteriors’ showroom is the Roll chandelier by Workshop/APD. This four-light fixture features soft, frosted opal glass lights ensconced in softly shaped ivory resin shades suspending from a curving, antique brass-plated iron frame.

Bethel International’s showroom (Commerce & Design — 4C, Floor 4) will have a variety of luxe-looking light fixtures, including a brass frame chandelier with spiky natural crystal halo, satin black prism chandelier with hanging aluminum chains and a stainless steel black hairline frame chandelier with clear hanging crystals.

Yurei is a collection of table lamps, floor lamps and pendant lights from Koncept.

Yurei from Koncept (IHFC — H431, Hamilton, Floor 4) is a collection of table lamps, floor lamps and pendant lights that draws inspiration from the Japanese word for ghost, embodying an ethereal, otherworldly quality in its design. The lighting solution features advanced light panel technology that produces soft, eye-friendly illumination with gentle shadows. The transparent polymer shades enhance this effect while ensuring durability. Yurei is available in two colourways (matte black and matte white) and various shade options, including matte black and gold, matte white, dark grey, clear, tea brown, blue, light marble and charcoal.

Bedding and Pillows
The Provence washed linen bedding set from HiEnd Accents (Showplace — 2500, Floor 2) is a vintage revival with a modern twist. Inspired by the colourful toile patterns of the 1980s, it features a painterly print of Victorian settlers strolling through a lush nature scene. The soothing, golden colour palette harmonizes beautifully with warm neutrals. In contrast is the brand’s Tweed bedding set, at least from a colour perspective. Drawing inspiration from time-tested fashion, the bedding is woven from multi-coloured boucle yarns, specially spun for this collection. The tweed boucle fabric’s dense construction imparts a comforting weight, providing extra warmth and coziness. Available in two classic colorways — a cool-toned navy blue and a neutral brown — this modern bedding lends a tailored, structured feel to any space.

Throw pillows are a great way to bring life and intrigue to a room, so there will be no shortage at the market. The Centrepiece collection by Truett Designs (Suites at Market Square — G-6054, Ground) is inspired by one of Truett’s original hydrangea paintings and handcrafted in England. The pillow is available in six colours and five sizes, and features a machine washable cotton/linen cover and feather insert. At Katari Impax’s showroom (Suites at Market Square — G-4025, G-5026, Ground), show-goers will find Willa, a light and airy pillow offered in four colourways. Paarizaat Home (Suites at Market Square — G-2027, Ground) will showcase several new additions, including Ava, Prestige, Popcorn and Coastal, along with an assortment of hand-knit cotton throws.

Show Me the Ropes from Trowbridge Gallery (Commerce & Design — 3B, Floor 3) is an abstract rope design piped in white with a velvet-flocked finish positioned on a striking navy background, creating an effective contrast for the perfect nautical touch. The oversized, limited edition piece of art is designed and signed by artist Charlotte Morgan.

Area Rugs
The Amata collection from House Sprucing in collaboration with Jaipur Living (Commerce & Design — 4B, 4N, 4P, Floor 4), draws its inspiration from the heart of Europe, where the founders of House Sprucing, husband and wife duo Heather and Tyson Fujikawa, lived. It captures the unique romance and charm synonymous with iconic European cities like Paris, the cultural capital of love and the backdrop for this collection.

Part of Trans-Ocean Import’s (IHFC — H412, Hamilton, Floor 4) Savoy collection, the Big Wave area rug is hand-tufted in India from 100 per cent wool. It features a large abstract swirl design representing the twirling waves of the ocean. The ivory and beige background swirls are highlighted with deep blue accents evoking the ocean.
